The godfather of contemporary zombie lore, George A. Romero, hasn’t watched The Walking Dead and says he declined offers to direct episodes. “My zombies are sort of my own,†the Night of the Living Dead auteur tells io9. “I just didn’t think [directing an episode] was me.†He says he enjoys the Walking Dead graphic novels, though, and what they represent. “This whole zombie revolution, it’s unbelievable,†he says. “Now zombies have their own rules — they’re not all uniform, but they’re popular enough that I half expect a zombie to show up on Sesame Street and hang out with The Count. Vampires became The Count on Sesame Street, a zombie might be the next guy.†Might be? No, no. Has to be. [io9]
