Last night’s South Park revealed the secret meaning behind every Broadway musical: They’re packed with subliminal messages encouraging female audience members to perform oral sex on their male companions. Randy reluctantly takes Sharon to a production of Wicked, where a fellow patron (voiced by Book of Mormon writer Robert Lopez) teaches him about the hidden power of musical theater. The episode’s depictions of Stephen Sondheim, Elton John, Stephen Schwartz, and Andrew Lloyd Webber are a thing of beauty, but this montage, in which an amazed and delighted Randy takes Sharon to New York, really exemplifies South Park’s knack for contrasting giddy vulgarity with the finer things in life. Sunday in the Park With George, you’ll never seem the same. [South Park Studios]
