According to reports, Simpsons executives are willing to reduce their compensation in order to keep the show on the air. Voice actors are still fighting Fox’s proposed 45 percent pay cuts, though, as EW points out, the emergence of some kind of deal is much more likely than an abrupt cancellation: After all, “Nobody wants to see The Simpsons legacy end without a proper series finale.†Nor without a proper final season. Or maybe two, since even shutting things down next time around would deny the show the opportunity to survive “a landmark 25 seasons.†Let’s just hope everyone can find a way to let the residents of Springfield leave us with the dignity they deserve.
