The big-screen adaptation of Les Miserables has already packed on the star power in the form of Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, and Anne Hathaway (not to mention Helena Bonham Carter, who’s rumored to be circling Madame Thénardier), so did the production feel the need for a big-name singing star to play the movie’s romantic lead, Marius? Not quite: Deadline says producers have cast Eddie Redmayne in the role, and while he has won a Tony, it was for the straight play Red last year. The 29-year-old Brit is perhaps better known to moviegoers from his parts in Savage Grace and The Yellow Handkerchief, and in Les Miz, he’ll form a youthful love triangle with the yet-to-be-cast Cosette and Eponine. Better luck next time, Nick Jonas! [Deadline]
