Ron Swanson is everyone’s impossible-to-impress older brother, Nick Offerman says, which might explain fans’ fascination with and slavish devotion to all things Swansonian. “Your brother or sister could be the most fantastic person in the whole world, but if they are being hilarious and everyone loves them, you can think, ‘Oh, God, barf,’†Offerman told the Hollywood Reporter, so he channels that feeling when he’s trying to keep a straight face alongside his silly castmates. (Please, someone, make a ringtone of Offerman saying “oh, God, barf.â€) Offerman also says Ron is much bolder than he is, but he’s obviously able to channel his inner Pawnee administrator at will. When asked about his iconic mustache, Offerman said, “Sadly, our country has become so emasculated that a national audience can be astonished by a man merely growing whiskers, as though I were growing diamonds on my face.†Well, that mustache is extremely precious.
