After hip-hop starmaker Ryan Leslie had his laptop stolen during his European tour last year, he first offered $20,000 for its return and later, in a YouTube and Twitter appeal, upped it to $1 million. The laptop was ultimately returned and, after trying to contact Leslie by e-mail to no avail, the man who did the returning (unclear whether it’s the man who stole it as well) is now suing Leslie for the promised reward. For a taste of how this might play out, The Hollywood Reporter unearthed a 2006 case where a $1 million reward was also promised but never paid out — that case is still in pre-trial litigation five years on.
