While some are of the mind that Weeds has been on the air for so long that it’s become a spin-off of itself, it remains Showtime’s most-watched, longest-running comedy. That run was prolonged today when Showtime reached a deal with Lionsgate, the studio behind Weeds, for an eighth season. At the end of the seventh season, the Botwins and crew had gone full-suburban-circle from California to Connecticut, with the possibility of one character going to the other side. Production on Season 8 is set to begin early next year, whereupon we’ll find out who lives or dies (anyone but Doug!).
