Armie Hammer has parlayed his retro-handsome looks and rich voice into a run of roles as privileged young men in The Social Network, J. Edgar, and Mirror Mirror, but it looks like he’s ready to dirty up his image some. Deadline reports that Hammer will replace Colin Farrell in Sheldon Turner’s By Virtue Fall, where he’ll play a framed federal agent sent to a maximum security prison. Once there, Deadline says his character “turns into a badass to survive,†then breaks out to get revenge on his ex-partner (Eric Bana). We can already envision a prison-tattooed Armie doing shirtless revenge push-ups in his cell, but how do you rate his chances at the kind of role that Jason Statham does in his sleep?
