Uma Thurman hasn’t had a solid smash since the last installment of Kill Bill, but now she’ll take part in one quite literally: NBC announced today that the Oscar-nominated actress will join its highly anticipated midseason musical drama Smash in a five-episode arc. Thurman will play a major movie star who flirts with starring in Marilyn, the fictional Marilyn Monroe Broadway musical of which Smash charts the creation. Thurman herself has never trod the boards on Broadway, but she did star in the 2005 big-screen transfer of the Mel Brooks musical The Producers.
