The second shot of the trailer for Moonrise Kingdom is a center frame close-up of a bespectacled preteen boy, clad in a familiar shade of yellow, confronting a group of bird-costumed girls with a very particular brand of nerd confidence. Yes, we are in a Wes Anderson movie! And if that sentence is a cause for celebration rather than teeth-grinding, then you will surely be pleased with the two minutes that await. The story follows two typically precocious kids (Sam and Suzy, very much in love it seems) as they run away from camp and home, but it’s up to a stellar adult cast — Anderson vets Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman with Ed Norton, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, and Bruce Willis (in a sheriff’s costume!) — to find them. Ed Norton as a bumbling camp counselor, Frances McDormand as a crazy mom with a bullhorn, and Tilda Swinton as someone or something that requires her to swan around in a blue cape — these are all promising choices. But leave it, of course, to Bill Murray to roll up with a wine bottle and steal the whole show. “I’ll be out back. I’m going to find a tree to chop down.â€Â Never change, Bill.
