Well, here’s something pleasant: Amy Adams has set her sights on a movie adaptation of Steve Martin’s recent novel An Object of Beauty, which she’ll produce with Maven Pictures and star in. Adams will play the lead character, an ambitious art doyenne who rises from assistant to gallery owner over a decade and a half, bedding a great many artists along the way. You may remember Beauty as the novel Martin was promoting at the 92Y a while back when he discussed the book and the art world but not his movie career, prompting a befuddled, lowbrow audience to ask for refunds. (Now that Adams is making a movie about said book, things should go considerably better next time.)
