Even if you’ve been rehearsing with the PBS 25th anniversary DVD for months, it turns out there will be at least four minutes in Tom Hooper’s upcoming Les Miserables adaptation during which audience sing-alongs are impossible. Hugh Jackman tweeted and producer Cameron Mackintosh verified that the upcoming movie will include a brand-new song, “Suddenly,†written by the musical’s original songwriting team (Claude-Michel Schonberg, Alain Boubil, and Herbert Kretzmer) for Valjean. Mackintosh also confirmed, as Jackman told us, that the movie will be sung live. (This is all in an article titled “One Song More,†by the way, which, hats off to Playbill for that one.) Luckily, there are no planned lyrical changes to the rest of the musical, meaning you can still stage your own version of “Do You Hear the People Sing?†in the movie theater aisle, should you be so inclined. (Vulture hopes you are.)
