ABC’s Barbara Walters Oscar night interviews may be no more, but Jimmy Kimmel’s annual After the Academy Awards specials have emerged as a very worthy Oscar sidekick. In addition to random guest appearances (this year’s headliner: Oprah!), the post-kudos hour has become the place for Kimmel and staff to outdo themselves creating a star-packed viral video (from “I’m Fucking Ben Affleck†to “Tom Hanks’s Toddlers and Tiaras“). So what’s Team Kimmel cooking up this year? The show already announced the involvement of Meryl Streep, George Clooney, Tom Hanks, Martin Scorsese, and Helen Mirren (among many others) in the latest video. Now Vulture can exclusively reveal the name of Kimmel’s faux project, as well as offer a first look at the posters that will be used to promote the show in New York, L.A., and a few other big cities.
Get ready for Movie: The Movie (or M:TM, as it’s abbreviated in the art below). While we don’t know details of what’s in the film, it appears to be a spoof of the movie business. And judging from Hanks’s machine-gun hand, there will be (fake) blood and lots of action in the spoof. In addition to the aforementioned stars, other talent lined up for M:TM includes Charlize Theron, Don Cheadle, John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Cameron Diaz, and Samuel L. Jackson. About the only thing missing is a cameo from President Obama. The seventh edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live: After the Academy Awards, which will also feature a musical performance from Coldplay, is set to air after late local newscasts on Oscar Sunday, February 26.
