The precocious Moretz will play Jennifer Wilson in The Drummer, daughter of the late Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson. The film explores the last six years of Wilson’s life, which ended on December 28, 1983, when the 39-year-old drowned in the water off Marina del Rey in Los Angeles. Wilson had struggled with drug and alcohol abuse. Rupert Grint has joined the film as Stan Shapiro, a former William Morris Agency intern who became a close friend of Wilson. As for Wilson himself, that’s Aaron Eckhart. The film’s producers will try to capitalize off the Beach Boys 50th anniversary tour where the remaining members will actually be accompanied by Jesse and the Rippers actor-drummer John Stamos.
