“We’re sick and tired of girls getting up there with dancers and karaoke tapes in back of them,†Gene Simmons said. “No fake bullshit. Leave that to the Rihanna, Smhianna and anyone who ends their name with an ‘A.’â€
And on that note, the legendary painted rockers will strike out on the road with 40 dates across the U.S., along with another reasonably well-known glam-rock band, Motley Crue. They’re simply calling the three-month run “The Tour.†“You will be deaf and blinded,†Paul Stanley said. “You will leave there stumbling out.†Kiss and Motley Crue haven’t toured together since 1982, or about six years before Rihanna was born.
Motley Crue’s Tommy Lee fully supports Simmons’ assessment of certain modern pop acts.
“No disrespect to Rihanna, she’s a great singer, but we’re in a slump for some shit that has some personality and appeal beyond a bunch of pop stuff that’s floating around out there,†Lee told Billboard.com. “I’m glad [Simmons] said that actually because I don’t think I can bear watching another fucking award show that is just a little bit better than American Idol. It’s fucking pathetic to watch people go out and fucking karaoke with a bunch of lights and video. It’s all completely watered down.â€
It’s all good, though. He said no disrespect.
