Okay, technically the accidental meeting at L.A.’s Tower Bar was on Tuesday, a night before Mayer’s hurtful “Dear John†comments were published online. But one assumes that Swift’s team at least had an inkling of what was coming. And there was drama anyway: The breathless “Page Six†account says that Taylor “very visibly — in front of the entire restaurant — demanded to be moved to the other side.†In front of the entire restaurant! That is almost as embarrassing as causing a musical scene about a brief relationship in front of the entire nation. Also, this proves Vulture’s theory that the most important life events happen to Taylor Swift on Tuesdays (see also: “You Belong With Me,†“Forever & Alwaysâ€).
