Rehearsals for the musical (based on the 1997 animated film) kicked off last week, according to BroadwayWorld.com, with the lead role of Anya filled by Kelli Barrett, last seen in Baby, It’s You! Also taking part in the reading is the one and only Angela Lansbury (playing the dowager empress) and Patrick Page (as the villain Vladimir), who is fresh off his stint as the Green Goblin in Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark.Â
