The Oscar-bait gods giveth, and they also taketh away: Despite initial casting reports, Tobey Maguire won’t be making a small appearance in Ang Lee’s awards-season entry Life of Pi, but at least he just signed on to co-star and narrate Jason Reitman’s Labor Day. He’ll play a man who flashes back to a memorable Labor Day weekend in his teens when the mysterious Josh Brolin entered his and his mother’s (Kate Winslet) lives.
