Lena Dunham’s latest essay for The New Yorker (not online), which is mostly about the college relationship that inspired parts of Tiny Furniture and Girls, begins with a Facebook message from the writer’s ex-boyfriend’s mother. It reads as follows: “Hi, Lena — Bill and I remember you with such pleasure and fondness! But it’s time to sever the Facebook connection so I’m going to block you. We wish you all the BEST!†Not to pile on with the Girls-SATC comparisons, but this really is Post-It-level good, and Vulture sincerely hopes it catches on as the Facebook breakup method of choice. All the BEST!
