Kristen Wiig will be starring in a new indie comedy-drama called Hateship, Friendship, says The Hollywood Reporter, and the rest of the cast is pretty eclectic. Wiig’s costars include True Grit teen actress Hailee Steinfeld, English-Australian thespian Guy Pearce, and grizzled vet Nick Nolte. The movie is based on a book of short stories by Alice Munro and will be directed by Liza Johnson, who wrote and directed the 2011 indie drama Return. Hateship, Friendship stars Wiig as a nanny for an out-of-control teen (Steinfeld) who sets Wiig’s character up with her father, a recovering addict (Pearce). Nolte plays Steinfeld’s grandfather who blames Pearce for the death of his daughter. Hopefully, Kristen Wiig and her diverse grouping of costars will all bond on set over their differences and make an indie comedy-drama about it someday.
