NBC has ordered up five additional scripts for its ratings-challenged freshman sitcom Guys with Kids, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Jimmy Fallon-produced series, starring Jesse Bradford, Anthony Anderson, and Zach Cregger as a trio of men raisin’ babies, hasn’t been doing so hot in the ratings. Its latest episode was just three-tenths of a ratings point above recently-axed Animal Practice, so the order for additional scripts comes as a surprise. Of course, NBC might just be waiting to see how Guys with Kids does with its new lead-in, Whitney, which is returning from hiatus to take Animal Practice’s place in the Wednesday 8pm slot on November 14th (mark those calendars!). And, since this is an NBC comedy-related post, we are required to mention that Community still does not have a premiere date for its new season. My money’s on NBC handing Community back its old Thursday 8pm slot once 30 Rock wraps up its run this winter, but we will see.
