Paul Thomas Anderson wants to make you laugh

There is always a twinge of dark comedy in Paul Thomas Anderson’s movies, but it seems like Mr. Maya Rudolph has a hankering to try his hand at a full-on laugh riot. When Moviehole asked him about making a comedy, he responded, “Soon hopefully. I have to write it. It sounds daunting.†He continued: “I’d like to make a film like Airplane!. That never gets old. Or Ted. It was a big hit. Why? Because it’s great. Movies that are that big a hit are never fucking bad.†Is he aware that Seth MacFarlane doesn’t actually choose the Oscar nominations?
