Don’t Worry, Dane Cook and Justin Bieber Are Both Working on New Network Sitcoms

Universally beloved media personalities Dane Cook and Justin Bieber are both developing new sitcoms for big TV networks, Deadline and TV Guide report. Cook doesn’t have a show yet but he just signed a new development deal with NBC to make a series that will serve starring vehicle for himself. He recently starred in the comedy Next Caller, which was picked up for six episodes by NBC but unexpectedly canceled before it aired because the network was unhappy with the creative direction of the show. “Dane Cook is one of the most talented comedians working today,†says NBC President Jennifer Salke. Justin Bieber’s show is set up over at ABC, and it’s a single camera comedy based on his life that he will executive produce but not star in. It’s a family show about a future teenage pop star before he makes it big. The sitcom, to be written and produced by Entourage writers Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi, was in development at ABC last year but the project did not move forward. While Splitsider readers may not be the biggest fans of Mr. Cook or Mr. Bieber, you can at least take solace in the fact that the two of them are working on separate projects instead of making a show together.
