Dan Stevens’s reason for leaving Downton Abbey was that he “wanted to do other things†— usually TV-star code for “I am tired of this tiny box and would like to make a lot of money doing movies.†In Stevens’s case, however, it apparently means “I would like to narrate an e-book app,†because his first post-Downton project is just that: the audio track for History of a Pleasure Seeker, a Gilded Age novel “touted as the thinking woman’s version of Fifty Shades of Grey.†Well, if it’s for thinking women, then no problem. Surely the Downton community can respect thinking e-book porn.
