For the past three years, Fred Armisen has been pulling double duty, spending the broadcast season as a cast member on Saturday Night Live and the summer writing/producing/starring in his and Carrie Brownstein’s IFC series Portlandia. With longtime cast members Kristen Wiig and Andy Samberg’s departures last season and Jason Sudeikis expected to leave in May, it seemed like Armisen might leave SNL soon, but that’s not the case according to a recent interview with the comedian. When asked how long he plans on staying at the show by ET Online, Armisen answered, “I thrive most when I have to juggle things. The more I keep myself occupied and jump from thing to thing, the more I think it enriches both. I’m having such a good time on SNL, it’s still so much fun.†While he didn’t give a direct answer, it seems off of his enthusiasm for the show that he’ll be sticking around for a ways to come. Fred Armisen joined the show in 2002 and is currently in his 11th season, the second-longest current tenure (behind Seth Meyers’s 12 seasons) and third-longest overall (behind Meyers and Darrell Hammond’s 14 seasons). Of course, SNL head honcho has everyone beat, currently in his 33rd season on the show.
