Your Guide to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Hosting the Golden Globes

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are co-hosting The Golden Globes this Sunday, airing on NBC at 8PM ET/5 PM PT, and it should go down in history as the first intentionally funny awards show ever. Talking about the show to Entertainment Weekly, Fey joked that the ceremony will be “the sloppiest, best ever. The defining moment for a generation. But that generation is people who are currently in their nineties. And they’ve seen some stuff, so that’s actually saying more.†Poehler added, “Tina and I have done a lot of research and we found out that our demo is 90-year-olds and babies. So we’re going to try to shape the show so that both people like it.â€

Fey and Poeher have been promoting the awards show all week, so below, we’ve compiled links to all the silly interviews they’ve done together, the promos they’ve filmed, and the fun bits they’ve done at past awards shows:

Here are both the promos Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have done for the ceremony:

A long interview with The Hollywood Reporter. Here’s an excerpt:

THR: Can you come up with a couple of rules for a Globes drinking game?Fey: Any time an actress cries in a speech, drink. Any time you see a person actively not listening to someone onstage, drink.Poehler: Any time someone says, “I didn’t prepare anything!â€Fey: Any time anyone thanks Harvey Weinstein, eat a meatball sub.THR: How about any time they show Judi Dench?Fey: Yeah. You take off an article of clothing.Poehler: Any time Maggie Smith wins.

An interview with Entertainment Weekly, excerpted:

EW: What is your hosting “strategy How will it be different than Ricky’s?Fey: We’re going to be the first people ever to do a man-to-man hosting strategy. We’re going to tell a joke to every single person in the audience. Most people do a zone — we’re going man-to-man.Poehler: You know what we’re going to do? We’re going to act really shy and coy. We’re going to be really giggly and do a lot of really quiet jokes that we’re going to say into our sleeve. We want to make it be like an inside joke that nobody gets. [Both laugh]Fey: What might be exciting for us as a comedy paring is, I feel — and forgive me Amy if I’m speaking for you — but I feel like we’re both just, just old enough that we don’t really give a shit anymore.Poehler: I will tell you that the good news is, both personally and professionally, I have a large case of the fuck its right now. And it’s the perfect time to host something of this magnitude.

An interview with TV Line:

What if one of them has to accept an award?Poehler: We’ve been too busy prepping, so we haven’t even thought about that. And if either one of us does win, we’ll already have been talking at that point for a while anyway so people will be sick of our faces. So I’m sure we’ll keep it short and sweet. Or, screw it. You know, if we’re hosting. We can go as long as we wanted, just cut into other people’s time.Fey: And just say, “You can’t cut me off, because this is technically part of my hosting thing.†If you win, Amy, you could just talk forever.

Jesse David Fox at Vulture compiled a nice, obsessive history of Poehler and Fey’s friendship, dating all the way back to 1993.

And here’s a collection of fun bits that Tina Fey and Amy Poehler have done at past awards shows, all of which are way funnier than the entirety of the awards shows they come from:
