Billboard points out a new Hot 100 trend: Girls now has a bigger influence on chart placements than the onetime hit-maker Glee. Icona Pop’s joyous “I Love It†jumped to No. 69 after being featured on Girls; “Wonderwall†got a 75 percent sales bump after closing out last week’s episode. Meanwhile, Glee’s covers barely make it into the Top 100 anymore. Moral: fun. really is the best hope for the music industry.
