Continuing its practice of cramming retro sitcom stars into new shows, TV Land has ordered a new series called Kirstie’s New Show that will star Kirstie Alley, Rhea Perlman, and Michael Richards. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the cable network has ordered a 12-episode first season that will debut in the fall. The sitcom, which was ordered to pilot last fall, stars Alley as Broadway star Madison Banks as her long lost son (Eric Petersen) comes back into her life. Perlman plays her assistant and best friend, and Richards plays her limo driver. This will be the first regular TV gig in several years for each of the lead actors, as Kirstie Alley hasn’t had a (non-reality) show since 2005’s Fat Actress, Michael Richards since his failed Seinfeld follow-up The Michael Richards Show in 2000, and Rhea Perlman since the short-lived 2001 CBS drama Kate Brasher. Kirstie’s New Show was originally titled Giant Baby, which is a better title, I guess?
