Yesterday it was announced that Jon Stewart will be taking a summertime hiatus from hosting The Daily Show in order to direct his first feature film, a drama called Rosewater about an Iranian journalist. The twelve-week hiatus is Stewart’s first since he started hosting The Daily Show in 1999. During his time as host he has published America and Earth, both of which match The Daily Show’s political humor. The same year he signed onto The Daily Show, though, Stewart published a collection of essays under the title Naked Pictures of Famous People. Young Jon Stewart’s prose showcases the sarcasm, wit, and intelligence that have made him into a much-loved late night host and hopefully an excellent movie director, too.
