White House Press Secretary Jay Carney was very firm in his response to Jay-Z’s “Open Letter†— “It’s a song. The president did not communicate with Jay-Z over this trip†— but of course that did not stop Today’s Savannah Guthrie from asking the president himself (in an interview taped before the Boston bombings). So here is Obama’s official comment on the Cuba controversy: “I wasn’t familiar that they were taking the trip … You know, this is not something the White House was involved with. We’ve got better things to do.â€
