There are no winners and losers at the Time 100 Gala. (Well, except the Time 100; they’re technically winners.) Everyone is just there to look studly and be respectful of each other’s achievements. Still, there is one contest that emerged: Who was the event’s best friend? As we saw in his helping tie Jimmy Fallon’s bow tie, Frank Ocean could make a claim for the crown. The ever-charming Vice-President Joe Biden was seen schmoozing like he was running for office again. However, the top two were clear: Amy Poehler and Lena Dunham. The two lovely women hugged, laughed, posed, and endeared themselves all over that stinking gala. But who did it better, harder, and more lovingly? We went through the photo evidence below to decide.
Round 1: Befriending the Short
Verdict: Not particularly giant themselves, both are fantastic at engaging the little. Maybe it’s unfair because Amy and Aziz work together and see each other all the time, but Christina is just so damn excited to see Lena. Lena
Round 2: Fun With Phones
Verdict: Sure, watching cell-phone cat videos with Claire Danes and her husband is nice, but having Egyptian satirist/cardiac surgeon Bassem Youssef act like a giggly, selfie-taking tween is a whole other league. Amy
Round 3: Meet the Kimmels
Verdict: Jimmy seems happy to be photographed with both women, but only Lena really engages his fiancée, Molly McNearney. Lena
Round 4: Being the Best
Verdict: This one is tough, as there is likely no better feeling than Amy’s embrace, but come on, how amazing is Lena in that picture? Do you think she was more excited to see Michael Kors or Olivia Munn? Either way! Lena
Round 5: Befriending the Government
Verdict: We’re not even positive what Lena is doing in that picture, but it’s definitely the best. Well, almost the best. Claire might play a high-ranking CIA officer, but Joe Biden is the real vice-president. Amy
Round 6: The Mia Farrow–Padma Lakshmi Face-Off
Verdict: Remember when Amy and Lena had a screaming contest to win Mia Farrow’s heart and, in the process, won all of America’s hearts? This is almost too close to call, but an extra point goes to Amy, who seemingly convinced Padma to join in by putting her hands together and praying. Amy
AND THE WINNER IS …
Of course, it’s a TIE!!!!
