Rush is based on the true story of a band from the seventies whose drummer had a really large drum set — oh, wait, never mind, it’s a true story about race-car drivers from the seventies. Directed by Ron Howard (who, when you think about it, makes a lot of movies that are based on true stories: Frost/Nixon, Apollo 13, How the Grinch Stole Christmas), it stars Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl as rival Formula 1 drivers. From the trailer, it seems that eventually Bruhl crashes, catches on fire, almost dies, and from then on acts without the aid of eyebrows. The film hits theaters on September 20, straddling the line between summer blockbuster time and pre-Oscar time. Seriously, though, can we at least get a Rush song over the credits? It’s time period appropriate.
