Mother’s Day is coming, and during Sunday night’s episode of Game of Thrones, fans might be pondering which Westeros mama to root for. [Minor spoilers ahead and in our video.] There’s the evil one, Cersei Lannister, who gets negative points just for birthing King Joffrey and her jealously of her future daughter-in-law. But she has redeeming qualities, too. She served as a surrogate mother of sorts to Sansa for a while, teaching her all about her first period and sex tips before deciding she wasn’t good enough for her son. Oh, well. Then there’s Catelyn Stark, who’s been away from all but one of her children for the majority of the season. She’s a widow struggling to find a way to love her former husband’s bastard son while she cheers on her firstborn on a quest to avenge his father’s death. We met Lady Olenna this season and couldn’t shake her similarity to matriarch of matriarchs, the Dowager Countess. And of course there’s also the Mother of Dragons herself, though, maybe unsurprisingly, those little guys don’t require a a whole lot of hand-holding and “there-thereâ€-ing from Daenerys.
