Reese Witherspoon Joins Joaquin Phoenix in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice

The Walk the Line co-stars after winning some Golden Globes in 2006.

Reese Witherspoon, probably beyond cool with moving on from that crazy arrest story already, is reteaming with her Walk the Line co-star Joaquin Phoenix for Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice. The Thomas Pynchon adaptation will also feature Benicio del Toro and Owen Wilson. With no word on who Witherspoon will play, Indiewire hazards a guess at “Shasta Fay Hepworth, the ex girlfriend of Doc Sportello (Phoenix), who sets the plot in motion, though she could also be Hope Harlingen, the supposed widow of missing musician Coy.†Indiewire also reminds us Anderson originally wanted Witherspoon for Amy Adams’s role in The Master.
