We’re only a couple days into John Oliver’s summer fill-in stint as host of The Daily Show, but his ratings have been good so far. Oliver’s debut episode Monday pulled in 1.5 million viewers and a 0.7 rating in the 18-49 demographic, matching the show’s average ratings for the year under Jon Stewart. “When he gets back I’m just trying to make sure this building is not on fire both physically and metaphorically,†Oliver joked to the press last month. He added, “That is the aim, just to keep the show on the air for a few months.†He’ll have an easy enough time doing that if his numbers stay steady with where they’re at now.
