The first season of HBO’s The Newsroom was about many things. It was about the current state of journalism, and dysfunctional romance, and trying to “singlehandedly fix the Internet,†and also phone tapping, and Sam Waterston’s bow ties, and Coldplay. But most important, Aaron Sorkin’s show (the second season of which begins this Sunday) is about the News: reporting the news, reading the news, writing the news, blogging the news, doing the news. For your listening pleasure, here is every* use of the word news in season one.
*Excluding mentions of the show-within-a-show, NewsNight, because there is only so much time on this Earth and we’re not getting any younger.
