FX’s upcoming Fargo miniseries will not have any characters or plotlines from the movie, the network announced today. What it will have, however, is Billy Bob Thornton, who will play a dangerous manipulator who crosses paths with a small-town insurance salesman. The TV adaptation is “remarkably true to the movie,†FX CEO John Landgraf said this afternoon at the TCAs, but the story follows a completely different crime. This is Thornton’s first TV role since the nineties, though there is a dude on The Bridge who sounds a lot like the guy in Sling Blade.
