Sandra Oh is leaving Grey’s Anatomy at the end of this coming season, she tells THR. “I want us to get to that point where we see this character ride off into the sunset,†Oh says. “Grey’s has been the most important role of my life. Playing Cristina and growing her and growing myself in her, I want to usher her into the next section of her life in the best way possible. It’s got to be Cristina Yang’s happily ever after,†Oh explains. Though, if it is, she’d be one of the rare Grey’s characters to leave in anything other than a body bag, let alone with a happy ending to her story. But maybe! Oh is one of six remaining original cast members, along with Patrick Dempsey, Ellen Pompeo, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, and James Pickens — and all of their contracts end at the end of the tenth season, too. ABC has been clear that even if the cast changes, the show will remain on the air, and Seattle Grace has always had a revolving door for its staff members, so who knows? There’s still a whole season before Yang’s exit, which means there’s plenty of time for speculation. (And crying. Sandra Oh is the best damn crier on that show.)
