It was announced yesterday that Australian comedian Chris Lilley’s new show is Ja’mie King: Private School Girl, revolving entirely around his popular character Ja’mie King from his series Summer Heights High, and this afternoon, HBO announced that they’ll be premiering the six-part series Sunday, November 24th, at 10:30pm. This marks a definite change from how HBO has aired Lilley’s shows in the past. While they aired Summer Heights High and Angry Boys six months to a year after they originally aired in Australia, Ja’mie King will be airing right around the same time here and abroad.
Here’s HBO’s summary of the show:
Ja’mie: Private School Girl follows the eponymous school captain during the last few months of her final year of school, far removed from the grounds of Summer Heights High and back on the lush manicured lawns of Hillford Girls Grammar School. Returning to her private school roots, the series highlights the trials and responsibilities that come with being the “most well-known†girl on campus, including her academic and charity work, social life and relationships with family.
