Australian comedian Chris Lilley is making a new show all about Ja’mie King, the self-absorbed teenage school girl monster he played on Summer Heights High. Called Ja’mie: Private School Girl, it’s a six-part series for BBC Three in association with HBO in the US. The show will follow King in her final year at Hillford Girls Grammar School. Lilley commented, “I find teenage girls endlessly funny. So being able to write for and play the meanest bitch in school has been so fun. I can’t wait to show everyone what Ja’mie’s been up to.â€
Chris Lilley originated the character of Ja’mie in his 2005 Australian series We Can Be Heroes before making her one of the lead characters in 2007’s Summer Heights High, which aired on HBO in the US in 2008. Lilley had been teasing his fans last week by having them guess which one of his characters he’d be reviving for his new show.
