Christina Hendricks joined the film adaptation of Gone Girl author Gillian Flynn’s Dark Places a few weeks ago as a stripper; now she’s upgrading to a meatier (although less fleshy) role as Charlize Theron’s murdered mother. “The film follows Libby [Theron] learning that the supposed massacre of her family by brother Ben, which she testified in court decades beforehand, might not be what was assumed,†Deadline writes. Hendricks will appear in a handful of flashback sequences. Chloë Moretz and Corey Stoll are also in the cast.
