Woody Allen to Receive Cecil B. DeMille Award at Golden Globes

Woody Allen will be the recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 2014 Golden Globe Awards in January. The honorary Golden Globe is awarded by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.†The last comedian to be given the honor was Robin Williams back in 2005.

Allen has written and directed more than 45 movies, and already won Golden Globes for The Purple Rose of Cairo and Midnight in Paris, as well as Oscars for Annie Hall, Hannah and Her Sisters, and Midnight in Paris. He was also a top-notch standup back in the day and a fantastic prose writer, which are presumably included in the world of entertainment. It’s not known whether Allen, who is notorious for not appearing at awards shows, will attend the ceremony, though his latest film Blue Jasmine may well be nominated.
