Homeland star Damian Lewis is finalizing a deal to star opposite Nicole Kidman in Werner Herzog’s Queen of the Desert, according to Deadline. Lewis would play Lieutenant Colonel Charles Doughty-Wylie, an unhappy British war hero who has a torrid affair with archeologist, cartographer, writer, and political attache Gertrude Bell (Kidman) until his death in World War I. Lewis played a Civil War general in To Appomattox, a World War II soldier in Band of Brothers, and of course plays a former Marine on Homeland. He just has a military-ish face, apparently.
