The big news from the opening night of Kanye’s Yeezus tour (aside from the fact that the set is insanely complicated and possibly why he had to postpone Sunday night’s show) is that ‘Ye brings an actor onstage to play Jesus. Why did Kanye bring Jesus onstage? Because “we do plays all the time, where people play Jesus.†And because “What’s awesome about Christianity is that we’re allowed to portray God.†Also, as the album title would suggest, Jesus is important to Kanye: “People say, I wanna be like Mike.
