Showtime has renewed Masters of Sex and Homeland for another season each, the network announced today. Good news! Well, good news for Masters of Sex, which is finding its groove so to speak. Less good news for Homeland, which seems to be struggling to keep up its narrative in the face of season upon season. You know what would be ballsy and wonderful? For Showtime to say next season would be the last season of Homeland, so the show could appropriately mete out its remaining intensity and drive toward a specific conclusion. That will, of course, not happen — this is the network that dragged Dexter out for infinity years — but it’s nice to dream.
