Earlier in the week, word got out that Rory Albanese, The Daily Show’s showrunner, was leaving the show he’s been working at since 1999. He’s moving on to a development deal with Warner Bros, with which he’s already sold a sitcom to CBS about a family-owned drug store, operated by a conservative father and liberal son. Last night was his last day at The Daily Show, and like the mensch he is, Jon Stewart used the show’s Moment of Zen to wish Albanese a heartfelt farewell. It’s a lesson to all you aspiring showrunners: All you need to do is get a coveted PA job and be able to shit on command.
