If there’s no scene of him staring thoughtfully at a short, hairy man, we’ll eat our collective hat. Fox Searchlight  and Chernin Entertainment are currently working on a J.R.R. Tolkien biopic. The film will “chronicle the key moments in Tolkien’s life†that led to him to write The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings series, moments which may or may not include Tolkien’s service in WWI, his friendship with C.S. Lewis, and that time in college he was driven insane by an enchanted ring and lived underneath a mountain.
