If watching Tom Cruise embody Jack Reacher is indeed a pain, it seems set on being a lingering one. The Hollywood Reporter wrote Monday that the diminutive actor plans to return for a sequel to the 2012 thriller. This time around, the inspiration will come from Lee Child’s latest novel Never Go Back about the six-foot-five ex-military police officer. The eighteenth installment sees Reacher going “cross-country run after facing trumped-up charges, a woman claiming he fathered her child and a female commanding officer.†Let’s hope Cruise and whatever writer and director they choose are up to the task.
