While Beyoncé closed out the week by dropping an entire “visual album†with no warning, Eminem put out a teaser for the music video to “The Monster,†the fourth single from October’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2. In the minute-long clip, the rapper sits in a dark and dusty room while Rihanna, in a the role of therapist, pops in a tape that shows Eminem’s demons — we know this courtesy of the expository “ADDICTION†title card — and watches him watch it. The gloomy cinematography is part Basic Instinct, part District 9, and likely won’t generate the kind of attention it may have ten years ago.
