Here’s the first trailer for the Steven Soderbergh–directed The Knick, Cinemax’s latest stab at the prestige drama. Clive Owen stars as a doctor at New York’s Knickerbocker Hospital in 1900, when surgery was still pretty experimental and antibiotics were not part of standard medical treatment. Soderbergh is directing all ten episodes of the season, which is scheduled to premiere sometime this summer. If you miss the deep, lurking creepiness of the asylum-set second season of American Horror Story, you’re in luck! The Knick is not designed as a horror series, but surely we can all agree that old-timey surgeries are just inherently horrific.
